What is the burden of antibiotic use in Europe? PDF Print E-mail

The use of antibiotics in ambulatory care, i.e., outside the hospital, is expressed in defined daily doses per 1000 inhabitants per day (DID). Countries in the south and east of Europe have the highest consumption (red), whereas consumption is much lower in the North of Europe and in the Russian Federation (green; see Figure on the right).
